Today's Twitter feed of the week: only in Bako can you actually see what you breathe

My favorite Twitter feed of the week comes from Don Martin, renaissance man of downtown Bakersfield and owner of Metro Galleries. He's an avid runner and braves our (often) smoggy days. His Tweet:

"Say what u will about good air quality, but I like to see what I'm breathing. I know where it's been."

Hey, this air may be dirty and full of particulates but you should've grown up in the '60s and '70s in parts of inland Southern California where you couldn't even draw a deep breath after a day playing in a swimming pool, thanks to the smog created by autos in the pre-catalytic-converter age. That stuff really killed. The air was pretty decent in Bakersfield all through July -- one could see the coastal hills up until these past couple of weeks. Ain't complainin' this summer.
